NAC (N-acetyl cysteine), an antioxidant food supplement that is a precursor to glutathione, is effective for prevention and treatment of COVID-19:
Children have very high levels of glutathione. Therefore, ample glutathione may explain why this disease has hardly any impact on children and young people. However, glutathione levels drop with age and the prevalence and severity of the disease increase. Therefore, low glutathione may explain why it is most severe in people over the age of 65. However, nobody, regardless of age, needs to have low levels of glutathione.
Why is this not the lead news item?
I use NAC almost daily to assist people with overcoming chronic inflammatory-related health problems, of which there are many. It is excellent vaue for money and effective. If we were to lose access to NAC, this would be yet another massive setback for natural medicine. NAC is a safe nutrient and not a drug. Unfortunately, it seems there is an ongoing campaign by regulators worldwide to clear the decks of all remedies for all health problems, other than patented drugs.
Inexplicably, coinciding with the publishing of several studies showing NAC's effectiveness against COVID-19, the US's FDA has ramped up moves to ban NAC, pressuring retailers like Amazon to remove from sale products containing this nutrient.
Restricting the availability of NAC is yet another cynical move to ensure there are no remedies to getting out of this terrible situation we have been thrust into, other than the high-value and high-risk patented vaccine. Some people are making a lot of money out of this needless pandemic of misery and death and this is getting in the way of effective public health and medicine.

Abstract
Higher rates of serious illness and death from coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) infection among older people and those who have comorbidities suggest that age- and disease-related biological processes make such individuals more sensitive to environmental stress factors including infectious agents like coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. Specifically, impaired redox homeostasis and associated oxidative stress appear to be important biological processes that may account for increased individual susceptibility to diverse environmental insults. The aim of this Viewpoint is to justify (1) the crucial roles of glutathione in determining individual responsiveness to COVID-19 infection and disease pathogenesis and (2) the feasibility of using glutathione as a means for the treatment and prevention of COVID-19 illness. The hypothesis that glutathione deficiency is the most plausible explanation for serious manifestation and death in COVID-19 patients was proposed on the basis of an exhaustive literature analysis and observations. The hypothesis unravels the mysteries of epidemiological data on the risk factors determining serious manifestations of COVID-19 infection and the high risk of death and opens real opportunities for effective treatment and prevention of the disease.
