An advanced broad-spectrum Magnesium supplement providing 300mg of elemental magnesium from Aspartate, Orotate, Chelate, Phosphate and Oxide forms of Magnesium. Magnesium is an important mineral and is one of the four minerals (Calcium, Magnesium, Sodium and Potassium) needed for muscular and nerve response functions within the body. Low levels of Magnesium may be associated with muscle tremors, cramps and other problems and it is an essential cofactor in the functions of the Vitamin B complex, growth, energy and protein metabolism.

Mode of Action
20% of Magnesium in the body is present in the soft tissues, mainly bound to protein with blood plasma levels normally between 1.4 and 2.4mg per 100mL and these are maintained by dietary intake combined with kidney and intestinal conservation. When dietary intake falls, the body attempts to conserve Magnesium by excreting less through the kidneys and intestines. Magnesium is also present in the bones where it forms a bridge with Calcium and proteins to stiffen the structure. Magnesium also plays a role in preventing the deposition of Calcium in the soft tissues and has also been shown to minimise the risk of kidney stones (renal lithiasis) in some habitual stone formers.
Minerals are chemical elements found in the body either in their elemental form or complexed with organic compounds. Like vitamins, they are essential for normal cell functioning. The two most prevalent minerals, calcium and phosphorus, are major components of bone while sodium and potassium are found in all tissue fluids, both within and around cells. Magnesium, chloride, sulfur, and zinc are other minerals that play a key role in cell function. The trace elements iron, manganese, copper, and iodine are found in much smaller quantities, but play essential roles as catalysts in basic cellular chemical processes.

General recommendations for nutritional supplementation:
To avoid stomach upsets and to promote better absorption supplements should always be taken earlier, or in the middle of a meal.
It is also advisable not to lie down immediately after taking any pills. This is to ensure that the pills have made their way into the stomach and are not left sitting in the oesophagus where they could cause discomfort and irritation.
When taking several doses of a nutrient, it is better to split it up into smaller amounts and to spread it through the day with food.
